The Frogs ScratchAztec civilization, one of the most advanced and powerful pre-Columbian societies, flourished in central Mexico from the 14th to the early 16th century. Known for their impressive architecture, vast cities, and complex social structure, the Aztecs left an indelible mark on history. They built the magnificent city of Tenochtitlan, a marvel of engineering with canals, temples, and grand pyramids.
Aztec society was deeply intertwined with religion, and they worshipped a multitude of gods, each representing different aspects of life, nature, and the cosmos. Rituals, including human sacrifices, played a central role in their belief system, as they believed these acts were necessary to maintain balance in the world.
The Aztecs were also skilled in agriculture, creating innovative farming techniques such as chinampas, or floating gardens, to maximize their crop yields. Their knowledge in medicine, astronomy, and the arts was highly advanced, and they created an intricate system of writing and codices to record their history and achievements.
Despite their grandeur, the Aztec civilization fell in 1521 due to the Spanish conquest. However, their legacy continues to influence modern Mexican culture and beyond.
